Cranberry Brights

With the start of the holiday season I've kept my eyes open for decor inspiration. Admiring store window displays and scouring Pinterest boards. I've been drawn to one theme: simplicity. Christmas decorations come in all shapes and sizes. But the ones that have caught my eye are simple and elegant.

Inspired to create my own decorations, here was my first project: cranberry mason jar candles. They are so simple and easy to make - the only supplies I had to purchase were the cranberries (which you can buy at any grocery store).

{Here is what you will need: Fresh Cranberries, Mason Jars, Gold Glitter, Tea Light Candles, Raffia Ribbon}

{drop in cranberries to clean mason jar, filling 1/3-1/2.}

{sprinkle gold glitter on top. Cover and shake to disperse glitter. Repeat as desired for more sparkle.}

{tie a bow with raffia ribbon around the neck of the jar}

{wedge tea light candle in center}

{light candle and you're done!}

Lipstain, a Summer Must-Have

It seems like I spend my summers always on the go. It's truly the season of adventure. I tend to keep my purse stocked and ready for a variety of  activities whether I'm on the lake, in a boat, on the beach, camping or sitting on a porch to watch the sunset. This carefree and active lifestyle limits my beauty routine to just the easy-go-to essentials. This summer I have fallen in love with lipstain. Its easy, lasting, smudge-proof, and most of all can be paired even with no makeup to create a polished look.

For the...'Savvy Spender': $5-10

Best Feature: Looooong Lasting & Light/Natural Look

Lynchburg Lemonade

Lynchburg Lemonade Recipe
The perfect sunny-day drink. I first discovered this crowd pleasing cocktail when hosting a brunch in April. I wanted a refreshing drink that would satisfy the taste-buds of a big group. I knew anything too fruity or "girly" would most likely fail to engage half of my guests (the men). And then I stumbled upon the fantastic recipe. A crowd pleaser it was, and one I would recommend for any summer gathering.

1 part Whiskey, 1 part Triple Sec, 1 part Sweet & Sour Mix, 4 Parts Sprite

Best Products for Easy-Beachy-Wavy Hair

Best Products for Beachy-Wavy Hair - Mermaid Hair
The ability to step out of the shower and only apply one product to my hair and viola! I'm ready to go! Now that is a fabulous thing. I don't have tight ringlet curls which require little hold in styling products. For my natural waves I need just enough hold without weighing my hair down. I've tested many curl products and found most leave my hair crunchy, flat or frizzy. The six products featured here are my top picks for every price range.

Make-your-own Muesli

Make-Your-Own Museli Recipe
It’s fresh, it’s healthy, and it’s easy. I eat Muesli almost every morning. It is a wonderful alternative to store bought cereal. It's nearly impossible to get tired of the same flavor because I custom mix it every day. I originally discovered Muesli through Barre3's "28 To Great" Challenge and I've been perfecting my recipe variations ever since.
Pick Your Pairings: Make Your Own Muesli Recipe

Because I buy the non-perishable ingredients in bulk it is an inexpensive way to keep my breakfast options stocked. For the base of rolled oats and flax seed meal I go with Bob's Red Mill Natural Foods, they have an amazing selection and I appreciate the local factor that it is made and distributed here in Portland, Oregon. Walnuts, Almonds and Pecans I use commonly for baking and tend to keep in supply – making them easy and tasty options. Most weeks I pick up my fresh berries of choice. However Dried Goji Berries are an excellent non-perishable option (you can find them at most health food stores). I've experimented adding additional flavor with sugar or coconut shaves, however the mix is fabulous on its own. Add your milk of choice and your ready to go!
